Up Close and Natural
Looking to get hands-on with nature? The Environmental Learning Center, located in Vero Beach, is a non-profit covering 61acres on Wabasso Island. The center offers a wide array of classes and summer camps as well as field trips providing a great environmental learning experience for all ages.
Take a canoe trip down the Indian River Lagoon, listen in on lectures from global experts on various environmental topics, or simply enjoy the center’s flora and fauna and follow a nature guide through the center’s campus.
Pet-Friendly Paradise
With scenic river views and interactive fountains, Royal Palm Pointe in Vero Beach offers just the right mix of relaxing, family fun. The fountains are a great way to cool off on a hot summer day while the kids run around and play.
The park is fun for the whole family including family pets. Royal Palm Pointe allows dogs in the north park as long as they are on a leash.
The Disney Experience
If you and your loved ones are looking to splash around in more water-based activities, Indian River County also houses Disney’s world-renowned Vero Beach Resort. Start off the day with your favorite Disney characters at Goofy’s Beachside Character Breakfast, followed by checking out the incredible nesting grounds of the Loggerhead Sea Turtle, and wrap up your evening with s’mores at a Sing-Along Campfire session!
Not only is this sure to be a trip that your children will remember forever, but parents can be found enjoying themselves pool-side, lounging in the spa, or sipping cocktails in the Green Cabin Room.
Arts and Culture Galore
Get in touch with the arts at the Riverside Theatre. Shows happen almost every day at the theatre, including family-friendly options. In July, you better be prepared to laugh as the theater will host several comedy nights as well as Casino-themed nights including dinner and play called ‘Peter and the Star Catcher’ featuring the Riverside Theatre students. The theatre students are a part of the children’s theatre.
Prior to the show, check out the fun activity area for children called ‘KIDSPOT’ that includes arts and crafts, games, character meet and greets and more. KIDSPOT is complimentary to children 12 and under with tickets to the kid shows.
Child’s Play
If you want even more family fun, then look no further than the Vero Beach Museum of Art featuring a children’s program offering several activities for children of all ages including those under the age of five.
Toddlers can explore an exhibition together and participate in art activities at the museum’s Toddler Tours. Hosted every Wednesday, Artful Storytime offers reading, singing and baby-friendly art projects. For the older children (4-11 years old), the museum will hold a KidZ Artshop. Here they can take a guided gallery visit and share creative family fun with a studio art activity.
