The Best Destination for a Girls Getaway
The Best Destination for a Girls Getaway
Every once in a while we need a break. Between work or school, family, and everyday errands and chores it gets tiring.
Hitting the road with your girlfriends and discovering a new town is a great way to take a breather and relax. Does a Florida getaway with uncrowded beaches, a cool 74 degrees on average, and countless activities and events every day of the week sound perfect?
Say hello to Indian River County. It encompasses the cities of Vero Beach, Fellsmere, and Sebastian. These serene, relaxing yet fun cities will give you a much needed vacation with your girls.
Weaving local activities or events into your itinerary creates the ideal weekend. We’ve done all the research and found the top four picks in Indian River County:
Live Bluegrass Music
Kick off your girls weekend getaway with traditional bluegrass music on Friday night. The Blue Cypress Bluegrass band puts on a great live show for first-time listeners or life-long fans.
The five-member band uses a variety of instruments including the banjo, mandolin, fiddle, guitar, and upright bass. They also play old-time classic country songs and encourage their crowds to sing or get up and dance along.
Pop into Marsh Landing Restaurant in Fellsmere, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., to hear some of these good tunes.
Paddle Board and Breakfast
Wake up bright and early on Saturday and start the day with a scenic paddle boarding tour with Sea Sup Go in Vero Beach. You can standup paddle board (SUP) down the Indian River Lagoon and spot manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, sting rays, or birds out for their morning meal.
After 40 minutes of serene paddling, the tour ends at a local café and juicery called La Tabla, where everyone eats a fresh and healthy power breakfast.
Local Farmers Market
After paddle boarding, stop by the Farmers Market Oceanside to grab some food and treats with the girls. The market offers fresh produce, fish, bread, pastries, and more along with local musicians playing in the background. This event prides itself on being pet-friendly, so don’t forget to bring your four-legged friends along.
The market is open from 8 a.m. to noon and is located on Ocean Drive at Humiston Park in Vero Beach.
Yoga and Craft Beer
End your weekend on a relaxing note with some downward facing dog or child poses —and some craft beer.
Every Sunday from 11 a.m. to noon Walking Tree Brewery offers a yoga class for all levels. Whether you’re a first-timer or a certified yoga instructor, all are welcomed to join.
The class is donation-based and you can enjoy $1 off craft beers and kombucha afterwards.
