A Kitchen of Her Own (AKOHO) – Sebastian, FL

Our first stop on our journey through Indian River County’s fall picnic scene is “A Kitchen of Her Own,” or AKOHO, which recently celebrated its 5th anniversary. This charming establishment, curated by owner Shari Pierce, has become a local gem in just half a decade. During our visit to mark this milestone, we savored the aroma of autumn with AKOHO’s famous pumpkin soup and a delightful white and red plum tart. And now, the newest addition is the “Tiki Bar” outdoor seating area, where guests can enjoy their meals in a delightful outdoor setting. AKOHO is a must-visit for those seeking the quintessential tastes of autumn in Indian River County. Cheers to five years of culinary excellence!

Coffee House 1420 – Vero Beach, FL

Our next destination in our fall picnic journey is Coffee House 1420, where we recently indulged in a trio of seasonal delights, including the classic Pumpkin Spice Latte, an invigorating Iced Horchata Latte, and the irresistible Smores Latte that stole the show. While the caffeine and sugar provide an energetic boost, Coffee House 1420 is not just a place for exceptional drinks. Owner Chef Michael Glatz’s dream of creating a neighborhood coffee shop that feels like family became a reality in October 2020. The menu, though simple, features items crafted with the utmost quality and finest ingredients. Coffee House 1420 is a must-visit spot for both coffee connoisseurs and food enthusiasts alike, offering an experience that’s both inviting and unforgettable.

Our fall picnic adventure continues at CountrySide Family Farms, where we couldn’t resist their tempting Apple Pie Slushie, a chilly delight layered with apple pie ice cream and apple slushie that embodies the flavors of autumn. Yet, CountrySide Family Farms is more than a place for seasonal sips; it’s a testament to the enduring legacy of family farming in Florida’s legendary Indian River region. Here, you can also indulge in their orange and strawberry soft-serve ice cream (when in season), and don’t forget to visit them beachside on Ocean Drive for tacos and ice cream too! They invite you to witness the grand tradition of the family farm in Vero Beach, Florida, where generations work together to nurture and harvest the region’s finest citrus fruits, making it a perfect stop on your fall picnic journey.

Polo Deli – Vero Beach, FL

Our final stop on our fall picnic journey is Polo Deli in Vero Beach, brought to life by owners Kelly and John. Inspired by their travels and the gourmet deli, Davoli, in Paris, they decided to recreate the experience here. Although Polo Deli primarily focuses on takeout, it’s the ideal spot to assemble a fantastic picnic spread. The deli offers a diverse menu, including specialty sandwiches, shaker salads, and an extensive wine selection. We enjoyed our meal on a beautiful day at Humiston Park, where the scenic surroundings enhanced the experience. The sandwich we tried was the turkey, cranberry, and brie cheese panini—a perfect choice for a fall meal, and always available on their menu. Plus, with each sandwich purchase, you get a free cookie, and we couldn’t resist the chocolate chip variety. Polo Deli is your go-to destination for creating an unforgettable fall picnic experience.
