Beyond the Sand: Things to Do in Vero Beach

Beyond the Sand: Things to Do in Vero Beach

It’s true that no matter where you are in Florida, you’re never more than 60 miles from a beach. Vero Beach resorts are some of the best in the state for swimming, sunbathing, and taking in the beauty of the eastern Florida coastline. But there’s more to this city than just seaside resorts or oceanfront hotels. Vero Beach is full of life and culture, all year round — though there are a few annual events that you won’t want to miss. Be sure to check out some of these Vero Beach events during your stay.

The Sebastian Clambake: This annual November event is a favorite in Indian River County, celebrating our way of life along the river itself. Over the past 13 years, more than $500,000 has been raised through this get-together of local musicians, vendors, businesses, public service organizations, and of course, lots of seafood.

Vero Beach Air Show: The summer air show is a high-flying event for all ages. Demonstrations from the Blue Angels and the Strike Fighter Squadron are the icing on top of a host of aircraft displays sure to please any aviation buff.

Fellsmere Frog Leg Festival: Don’t miss the world’s largest frog leg festival in the world, held every January in nearby Fellsmere. Along with rides and games, the main course features a frog leg and gator tail dinner — a true Florida experience!

Florida Craft Brew and Wingfest: This annual festival happens in February and features more than 150 beers from across the state for tastings. And what goes better with beer than chicken wings? Each vendor will compete for the competitive title of “Best Vero Beach Wings” with food on hand for all attendees.

Missing the festival? It’s always beer season in Indian River County, where we have several craft breweries to choose from with unique offerings you won’t find anywhere else. In addition to these annual events, there’s always lots to see, eat, play, or do in Vero Beach. From art galleries to golf courses to treasure hunting adventures, there’s something here for everyone. It’s more than just a resort town — it’s a way of life!
