End-of-Summer Vacation Ideas

Soon, your kids will have to go back to school and another year of making lasting summer memories passes you by.

If you wish you had gone on vacation while the kids were out of school, there are still a few more weeks left to build these family memories, and you can do so in Vero Beach, Fellsmere, and Sebastian, in beautiful Indian River County. Here’s a few of our end-of-summer favorites.

Sea Turtle Walk

Turtle nesting season in Florida is from May 15th to October 31st. The Friends of the Carr Refuge provide people with the opportunity to join them for Turtle Walks every other Friday in Vero Beach at the Windsor Beach Club. On this tour, you may get the chance to watch a mother sea turtle lay her eggs, cover her nest, and return back to the ocean.

Yoga

Sea Sup Go Paddle & Surf Company offers yoga with a twist during Evening Standup Paddleboard Yoga several afternoons during the summer. No previous paddle or yoga experience is required! Enjoy a relaxing hour on the water while trying to hold your balance in the downward dog position.

Farmer’s Market

Don’t want to make dinner? Want healthy, fresh foods? Check out the Vero Beach Farmer’s Market Oceanside. The market is open every Saturday from 8-Noon on Ocean Drive at Humiston Park. Here you can find fresh produce, seafood, pastries, and so much more. The market is pet-friendly, so bring along your four-legged friend and enjoy the Oceanside shopping district and even some local entertainment.

Can’t make it on Saturdays or don’t like early mornings? The Farmer’s Market at the Vero Beach Outlets happens every Thursday from 4PM-7PM! Enjoy convenient access to the outlet stores and Florida sunsets. There are many different vendors for you to choose from after an afternoon of shopping to pick up dinner from.

For the Kids

If you are looking for something for the kids to do for the day, the Vero Beach Museum of Art offers several activities for children of all ages to enjoy. Toddlers can explore an exhibition together and participate in art activities together at the museum’s Toddler Tours. The museum even offers activities for children under the age of 5. Children and their caregivers can enjoy Artful Storytime every Wednesday for stories, singing and baby-friendly art projects! For the older children (4-11 years old), the museum will be holding a KidZ Artshop. Take a guided gallery visit and have some creative family fun with a studio art activity.
