IRC Photographer Spotlight Series – Vladimir Kolesnikov

Indian River County launches "gratitude campaign" in efforts to showcase the community through the eyes of some of the most creative and local photographers.

Indian River County – Photographer Spotlight Series!

This month’s Photographer Spotlight is Vladimir Kolesnikov, aka “Vlad_NY” on Instagram.  His keen eye for nature from sunrise to sunset and everything between, are some of our favorites here at Visit Indian River.  We have used his work quite a bit on social and some digital advertisement throughout the years.  One of the many reasons that we are grateful for Vlad is his appreciation for our county his ability to capture it’s “picturesque” settings.  Vlad relocated here back in 2005 and boy are we happy that he decided to do so.  Something that we value in working with local photographers on this initiative, is their candidness in answering our questions. We believe that connecting in this way is more important today than ever before. Thank you Vlad for sharing how Photography has helped you in times of struggle and for celebrating the beauty that surrounds you in spite of the season you may be facing.  Truly inspiring!

1. How long have you lived or have been visiting Indian River County?

My wife and I bought a house in Vero Beach in 2005 as our future retirement place and we moved to Vero when I retired in April of 2017

2. What do you love the most about experiencing our county?

I love the natural beauty here, I always wanted to live by the sea and now I do. The ocean is a major part of my being fascinated with Vero. I love the weather (except hurricanes), the relaxed pace of life which gives me a lot of opportunities to think and mediate. I like people here very much, they are nice positive folks with a great sense of humor, always ready to help.

3. What’s your favorite place in our county to shoot? And Why?

My favorite place to shoot is the oceanside. The ocean is always different, it is monumental and powerful, and it never fails to surprise me or show a new aspect of itself.

5. Are you self taught or did you go to school to become a photographer?

6. What motivated you to get behind the lens?
7. What is your favorite area to photograph that is off the beaten path?
8. Is this a hobby or your business?
9. What can our followers and readers expect from you in the future in terms of creative expression?
We hope you enjoyed learning more about Vlad’s love for photography and our county. To stay up to date on his work, be sure to visit: https://www.instagram.com/vlad_ny/
