Cafe 66 – Vero Beach, FL

Under new ownership for the past year, Marc and Ursula have become the new caretakers of Cafe 66, an iconic Vero Beach establishment renowned for its exceptional breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their dedication has made this spot a local favorite, often drawing crowds that spill out the door during peak hours. On my recent visit, I had the pleasure of sampling The Barking Dog and The Texan Burger—both were incredibly delicious and served with crispy French fries. Cafe 66 continues to impress with its flavorful offerings and welcoming atmosphere, making it a must-visit for anyone craving top-notch hot dogs, hamburgers, and a great dining experience. For over 42 years, Casey’s Place has been a beloved staple on the Island in Vero Beach, celebrated for its enduring quality and classic American fare. As a local favorite, this spot is highly recommended for its delicious burgers and hot dogs. During my visit, I enjoyed the Casey’s Deluxe Burger and the Chili Slaw Dog—both were flavorful and satisfying, showcasing why Casey’s Place has remained a top choice for so long. Their Cajun-seasoned French fries are also a must-try, adding a perfect touch to any meal. Casey’s Place continues to impress with its timeless appeal and consistently great food.

Mrs Mac’s Fillin Station – Vero Beach, FL

For over 24 years, Mrs. Mac’s Fillin’ Station has been a staple in the community, with the owners, Loren and Patrick Moran taking the reins a decade ago. Their dedication to preserving the restaurant’s original charm is evident, as they’ve kept the beloved recipes and nostalgic ambiance intact. With a fun, classic automotive theme, this diner-style spot offers a unique twist on traditional fare—hamburgers are playfully named “hubcaps,” hot dogs are “tailpipes,” and coffee is referred to as “high test fuel.” During my visit, I sampled the Trailblazer hamburger and the “Hot” Diggity hot dog, which recently won acclaim at the Dog Days of Summer event. Both dishes were flavorful and showcased why Mrs. Mac’s Fillin’ Station continues to delight patrons with its authentic, old-school dining experience.

Phatz Chicken Shack – Vero Beach, FL

Phatz Chicken Shack, opened their first spot in Fort Pierce, and with much success, decided to expand to Vero Beach in the fall of 2017. Their menu boasts a tempting array of options, including chicken & waffles, fried shrimp, wings, burgers (greedy style), milkshakes, dirty rice, and French fries. During my recent visit, I tried the Bacon Mushroom Swiss Burger, which was absolutely delicious. Although hot dogs have recently been removed from the menu, Phatz Chicken Shack still offers plenty of mouthwatering choices that cater to all tastes. Exciting news for Fort Pierce fans—the original location is set to move to a brand-new spot directly across the street, with hopes to open by the end of this year.
